September 8 London premiere date set for Jaguar’s much-anticipated new sports saloon.
Jaguar will officially unveil its latest car which will give premium car buyers more choice in a hotly-contested sector featuring such cars as the BMW 3-series, Audi A4 and Mercedes C-class.
The lightweight Jaguar XE is set to be a class leader, with an aluminium chassis, Integral Link rear suspension and F-Type derived front suspension.
The XE will also be the first user of Jaguar’s new family of high-output, fuel-efficient ‘Ingenium’ engines in four-cylinder two-litre petrol and diesel variants. There will of course be more powerful engines too – one rumoured to be capable of propelling Jaguar’s baby saloon to speeds in excess of 186mph.
Ian Callum, Jaguar’s Director of Design, said: “The new Jaguar XE is every bit a modern Jaguar; more compact in size but visually striking.
“We never forget we are designing a Jaguar and that means it must be as exciting to look at and drive as it is brilliant to run and practical to own.”
