French carmarker Peugeot has unveiled its eye-catching Exalt concept.
Peugeot’s “vision of the saloon”, which will debut at the Beijing motor show, follows on from the Onyx concept of 2012.
The radical Exalt uses the same “shark skin” approach as the Onyx with bare metal, leather and fabrics to mimic the texture of a shark’s skin.
Measuring 4.7m and weighing in at 1700kg, the sleek five-door luxury saloon has a low roofline of 1.31m.
The Exalt is a plug-in hybrid, coupling the same 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine as the RCZ R with a 67bhp electric motor mounted at the rear.
Peugeot’s Hybrid4 system automatically selects which driving mode to use, choosing from pure electric, petrol only or petrol-electric hybrid options.
Inside the sleek cockpit there’s a leather and wood-trimmed steering wheel, plus two folding touchscreens on the large centre console.
Peugeot’s brand CEO, Maxime Picat, said: “With Exalt, Peugeot unveils its vision of the saloon, combining a sleek design with versatility. This radical approach and original qualities make Exalt instantly desirable.”
Please, Peugeot, get the Exalt into production pronto!
