Award for Kia’s stunner

Kia’s GT4 Stinger concept car has won a prestigious American design award – and it still hasn’t gone into production.

The Industrial Designers Society of America has saluted Kia with a Silver “IDEA” for the Stinger.

The IDEA (International Design Excellence Award) honours design excellence in its transportation category.

Designed at Kia’s American Design Center in California, the GT4 Stinger sports the latest version of Kia’s signature ‘tiger nose’ grille resting a mere few inches from the ground.

The rear-drive 2+2 sports car is powered by Kia’s proven 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol injected four-cylinder engine putting out an impressive 315hp. It’s believed the Stinger will go into production “by 2016”.

The Industrial Designers Society of America also presented Kia with a Bronze “IDEA” for the 2014 Soul.
